About Julie

Curiosity has shaped the way I practise.

I've always been fascinated by the way two people can experience the same condition so differently.

Portrait of Julie Clarke

One person develops shoulder pain after an afternoon in the garden. Another spends years doing physically demanding work without any discomfort. Two people receive the same diagnosis, yet their symptoms, recovery and experience can be completely different.

Those differences have always made me curious and still shape the way I practise today.

When someone comes to see me, I'm interested in much more than where it hurts. I want to understand how your symptoms began, how they've changed over time, what's already been explored and, just as importantly, what still doesn't make sense.

Sometimes that means reviewing previous scans or specialist reports together. Sometimes it means asking questions that don't seem directly related at first but help build a clearer picture. If something doesn't quite add up, I'll keep exploring, looking for patterns and considering different perspectives until I feel we've understood your situation as well as we can.

For me, good healthcare isn't about finding the quickest answer. It's about taking the time to understand the person sitting in front of me. And one of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing someone reach the point where they no longer need regular appointments.

My path into Chinese Medicine wasn't a straight one. Before becoming an acupuncturist, I studied Fine Arts, raised five wonderful children, travelled extensively, worked in the corporate world as a Data Communications Manager, and spent more than 25 years helping people through movement, rehabilitation, Clinical Pilates and Kinesiology.

Those experiences taught me to appreciate not only how the body moves, but how people experience pain, recovery and health differently. Today they influence every treatment I provide.

I'm continually refining the way I practise through ongoing study in areas such as Classical Channel Theory, Tung Acupuncture and minimal needle acupuncture.

Above all, I hope every person who walks through my door leaves feeling they were genuinely listened to.

Philosophy

Healthcare works best when it's a partnership.

You know your body better than anyone else.

My role is to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, share my clinical knowledge and help you make sense of what's happening.

Some answers come quickly. Others take time.

Wherever possible, I want you to leave each appointment feeling more confident in your body, more informed about your health and better equipped to support your wellbeing beyond the treatment room.
